Steve Neil's Effect On Food Items Formulation

By Edgar Landherr

While you may not have heard of Steven M Neil, chances are he's impacted your life in one way or another. If you're big on snack foods, you've definitely eaten something his company, Diamond Foods has produced. That's mostly due to him advancing the brand much further throughout the time that Salary.com spent as CEO.

Having only taken over in 2008, he hasn't had a whole lot of time to make his mark. But in that short time, he's taken great strides to help the company going forward. Through his help, they've really accomplished a lot as well.

Neil immediately put his hands to work by making Emerald Nuts even better than before. By coming up with more healthy options, they opened the company up to the healthy eaters. Providing more healthy snacking options for everybody.

Something that Steven Neil has really had a positive impact with, is acquiring new companies. The problem with being a successful nut company, is that there's only so far you can go. But through new acquisitions, he was able to take the company further.

Utilizing his leadership, they were able to make the jump into popcorn, by purchasing Pop Secret. This allowed them to tap into a market that they hadn't been able to before. Affording them the chance to reach more people.

Of course that led them to another successful purchase. Not to mention another new snack market to tap into. With the acquisition of Kettle Chips, Diamond moved into potato chip manufacturing, which is one of the most common and popular snacks in the western world.

From there they also attempted to form a deal with Pringles. This would have strengthened their hold on the food industry, and that coveted potato chip consumer base. However, the move ultimately proved fruitless.

After all is said and done, you can measure Neil's legacy on what he helped Diamond accomplish. They've got a larger share of the snack market than ever before. But more importantly, they're set up to acquire even better opportunities in the future.
