Online Training Vs. Training Hands-on For Injection of Botox

By Alina Karemin

Botulinum toxin injections, fondly called Botox injections, are now common practice the world of cosmetic surgery. Highly specialized Botox treatments are used for a wide variety of symptoms, including smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, and for other kinds of medical issues as well. To be licensed to deliver Botox injections, medical professionals have to complete the in-depth training required. The internet is a great resource for knowledge, and some people are looking to the web to get the certification needed to deliver these treatments.

Can one learn all they need to administer Botox injections online? One could also choose to gain their knowledge in a real world setting. These methods of learning are actually accentuated by each other. This can be analyzed more in-depth.

Online training

The knowledge can be absorbed by the learner online at their own pace and in their own home, which many people find more appealing. One can view live seminars and what are called webinars, as well as videos and other kinds of courses that are available online. Training programs can also send out DVDs that people can watch and their own leisure.

While the above makes online training very appealing, it is important to realize that Botox injections are a hands-on procedure. One must actually try it in person to truly learn the process, all that is required to know can not be gained from simply viewing. For example, one cannot become a dentist by watching videos on how to perform different dental procedures. For the skills required to perform these complex procedures independently on patients, one must actually have an experienced physician supervise the procedure while the person is learning.

In-person training

Hands-on training is where it the trainee has an opportunity to perform this procedure on either a volunteer or a training dummy. The trainee is observed doing this procedure by an experienced professional, in most cases this is a doctor, and is repeated until they are satisfied that it can be administered by effectively and safely. The advantage of this procedure is that the trainee can learn from an expert and also from the mistakes that they make; this won't happen by training on the internet because criticism is not possible.

Probably the main disadvantage of hands-on training is the required manpower. It's a challenge to find the time for a busy professional to go to a training seminar in order to show trainees the correct procedures. The venue will need to be organized and this sort of activity can take time. As we view this problem from a larger scope and think about; the effectiveness and the safety of a patient, hands-on training is far superior when compared to online training methods.

Integrating online training with hands-on training

Doing this would probably be the best way to train people to perform Botox injections. Before attending a hands-on training program, a trainee would benefit highly by watching videos about the procedure online, and reading about the theory behind it. This will arm them with the knowledge of what they are about to learn and see instead of them being completely ignorant of what is being discussed at the hands-on program. Using these ways to learn together is the best way for a trainee to get the knowledge they are seeking. A trainee can now watch a detailed animation of a Botox injection procedure, and when they go to the hands-on training later, this knowledge will be highly beneficial.

Synopsis

Botox injection training is best accomplished using both online and hands-on training. There are pros and cons for each method, but learning Botox injection should be done using both, this way, the highest level of knowledge is attained by the attendee.
